A pair of Plain, Old English, Sauce Ladles.
Most ladles of this type have been engraved and usually it's a deep engraving so I was very pleased to find these that are completely plain.
These are by Mappin & Webb, Sheffield hallmark, Sterling silver. The date is a little tricky as there are 2 dates that are very similar 1938 and 1963, but my feeling is they are 1938 due to the patina and style.
They weigh approximately 164 g in total and measure approximately 7" (170mm) long with the bowls measuring approximately 2 3/8" (60mm) wide.
They are in great condition with minor marks all over as would be expected. Please note that in the photographs one was polished and the other not, but they are both polished now.
All vintage items have been used and loved before they find their next owner, so they should always be used with a little more care than a brand-new piece. Some minor scratches are normal. All vintage pieces I sell have been thoroughly cleaned and lightly polished when required. If repairs are needed before it's offered for sale, they are completed sympathetically.
Thank you for looking and please have a look around the other items in my shop
